Diedre Altic is a retired elementary teacher and librarian. She taught for 37 years in Ottawa schools. She graduated from Ottawa High School, earned BSE and MLS degrees from Emporia State University. Diedre had many leadership roles in USD 290 during her career. She is passionate for helping future educators.

Dr. Melanie Anderson earned a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Arizona School of Professional Psychology. She also has Master of Education degrees in Special Education and Counseling-Human Relations from NAU, and a bachelor’s in psychology from USF. She is currently working on obtaining a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction (Gifted Education) at ASU and an Associate’s in Criminal Justice Studies at Paradise Valley Community College. Dr. Anderson holds a Standard Professional Teaching Certification - Mild-Mod Special Education, K-12 and a Provisional Gifted Endorsement, PreK-12. 

Dr. Anderson has been a licensed psychologist since May 2014 and owns a private practice where she provides therapy to private pay clients and utilizes CBT. She also works as a contractor clinical psychologist in a police and public safety practice providing evaluations and clinical intervention services. Services include psychological screening of entry-level police officer and public safety applicants (e.g., police officer, reserve, SWAT, fire fighter) and after-critical-incident interventions (i.e., post-shooting and post-use-of-force). Her interests include Forensic Psychology, Criminology, and Criminal Profiling.

In addition, she has over 18 years of college-level teaching experience as an adjunct professor and taught psychology, counseling, and teacher education courses at ASU, Phoenix College, PVCC, Argosy University, and Ottawa University.  She is also a GCU dual enrollment instructor.  

Jennifer Ardellini earned her Master of Arts in Organizational Management at the University of Phoenix.  She has been an educator for eleven years in the School of Business.   She teaches several business courses, such as Organizational Management, Women in Management, Introduction to Management, Business Ethics,  and Organizational Behavior.  She has served as the Adjunct Faculty Mentor at the Wisconsin Campus.  Correlating textbook information with real-world situations, providing stimulating discussions and continual support of the adult learner, is what drives her energy and enthusiasm. She receives outstanding student reviews.

Abra Arlinsky has a Masters in Counseling and is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and CRP (Certified Resilience Professional) with a Specialization in Positive Psychology. Abra Arlinsky is a Clinical Director in community behavioral health and resides in Phoenix, Arizona. Her relevant work experience includes 23 years of behavioral health practice as a therapist, clinical supervisor and Clinical Director. Abra Has been an adjunct instructor of graduate studies in counseling for 19 years.

Instructor Bob Armbrust, PhD is an adjunct professor of business at Ottawa University’s Kansas City and online campuses.  Dr. Armbrust earned his doctorate from St. Louis University and his MBA from the University of Louisville with an emphasis in Operations Management.  His corporate career includes senior leadership positions at Fortune 500 organizations such as H.J. Heinz, Coca-Cola and Perrigo Pharmaceuticals. In 2006, Dr. Armbrust decided to make a career change and enter academia. He has since taught numerous online and local modality courses.  His teaching interests include Strategic Planning, Project Management and the MBA Capstone course. In his free time he loves to travel and stays committed to lifelong learning.

Dr. Nicole Baker grew up in Kansas City, MO and completed her undergraduate degree in English at Syracuse University. She spent the first part of her career teaching K-12 in the suburbs of Kansas City.  While teaching high school, she completed her doctoral studies at UMKC with a focus in literacy.  Upon completion of her PhD, she decided to make a career change and moved from K-12 to higher education.  She has taught with Ottawa University since 2013.

Callie Ballenger has known she wanted to be a nurse since the age of five. As a child Callie was always setting up a hospital with her dolls and examining them with her toy doctor kit. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant during her senior year of high school and worked at a nursing home through nursing school.  Instructor Ballenger graduated from Baker University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2002.  Upon graduation from nursing school she worked as a staff nurse on the organ transplant, renal, and vascular unit at The University of Kansas Hospital, which is a large academic medical center in Kansas City, KS. In 2006 Callie became the Unit Educator where she did staff education on new equipment and procedures and facilitated orientation for new employees and clinical rotations for nursing students.  In 2006 Callie began her master’s education at the University of Kansas and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the school of nursing skills lab where she taught assessment and foundation skills to undergraduate nursing students.  Callie loves teaching others and sharing her passion for nursing with the future generations of nurses.  Callie graduated from the University of Kansas in 2009 with a Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and with a post master’s certificate in Healthcare Education.  She then worked for six months as a nurse practitioner for the liver transplant surgeons in which she facilitated communication and care for patients between the surgical team and consulting services.  Instructor Callie Ballenger is currently a Clinic Manager at Take Care Health Systems which operates the clinics inside Walgreens Pharmacies.  Here she provides episodic care and preventative/wellness services to 18 months and older.  Callie manages the day to day operations of two clinics and a staff of five NPs while actively working 35 hours per week seeing patients in the clinic.

On a personal note Callie has been happily married to her husband for 11 years. She has two boys and her hobbies are attending her kid’s school and sport activities.  Callie is active in the PTA at her son’s school and in her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking and ATV riding.

Professor Barnett spent 14 years as a High School Spanish Teacher. Professor Barnett also spent six years as the District ESOL Coordinator.

Janet Barrow, EdD grew up in Lawrence, KS and completed her undergraduate degree at Spalding University in Louisville, KY.  She has devoted her career to human resources and earned an MPA from the University of Louisville and a Doctorate of Leadership Education from Spalding University while serving as Director of HR at Louisville International Airport.  She enjoys her return to Kansas and has been an adjunct instructor with Ottawa University since 2009.

Instructor Billy Bataille grew up in Montreal, Canada, but was accepted into the PhD program at the University of Miami where he completed his Master’s degree in Economics. He also completed a Master’s degree in Geography at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne to complement his global academic knowledge. Billy taught at California State University-Bakersfield, NYIT at their China campus, and at Temple University.

He enjoys learning about the world in general, through cinema and other art forms and through his travels which took him to the Himalayas, the Tropical Rainforest of Borneo, Europe, across all but five U.S. states, and Jerusalem.

Instructor Bataille has enjoyed teaching and interacting with the Ottawa University student body since 2016.

Kate Bayne grew up in Kansas and completed her undergraduate degree at Emporia State University.  She has been teaching since twelve years of age when she taught swim lessons for the American Red Cross.  Along with swim instruction and coaching, she also worked in the book industry as a corporate trainer. After completing her MAEd, she taught for Bryman School of Arizona and Ottawa University. She has taught with Ottawa University since 2016 and enjoys integrating her background in poetry and literature into Composition courses.

Professor Beems taught sixth to eighth grade for twenty nine years. Professor Beems has taught as an adjunct for Ottawa University since 2003.

I have been an undergraduate psychology instructor in both ground and online formats since 2012.  I have taught a wide variety of psychology courses.

Katie Benyo received her Masters in Violin Performance from The University of Missouri, Kansas City.  She not only performs and teaches classical music, she has also performed and recorded in many different styles of music including country, traditional Americana, jazz, fiddle, bluegrass, pop and rock.  She performed at the Major League Baseball World Series, the American Royal World Series of BBQ, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and with Lindsey Stirling, 2Cellos and Evanescence. She uses her eclectic performing background to inspire students no matter their musical interests.  She studied pedagogy at Indiana University's retreat for Violin and Viola teachers under Mimi Zweig, and she taught at the international music festival, VerArte in Arequipa, Peru.

Dr. Berg grew up in North Dakota.  His experiences are primarily in academic/administrative higher education, entrepreneur/business owner, corporate education/consulting in both domestic and global environments.  University academic experiences include full professor & department chairman, Northern State University; Director of Arizona State University Computer Institute; Dean of Academics at Western International University-Phoenix campus and London England campus; multiple Professor-of-the-Year awards; and, textbook author. 

Dr. Berg has entrepreneurial experiences owning and operating small businesses including a small manufacturing company, a retail western store, and an assisted living care home.  He also worked his way through college in a grocery store and in oil field trucking.  He started and continues to operate a grocery store from scratch in a small town with revenues the first year and following years reaching $1 million. 

Dr. Berg has worked as a national and global consultant and seminar leader doing seminars through Bottom Line Institute LLC with multiple years as a Strategic Planning in IT seminar leader for American Management Association.  Seminars have been held in the USA, Canada, Taiwan, England and Russia in corporate/business/government environments, on these topics: information technology, strategic planning & management, C-Level strategic planning, information management, marketing, leadership, and power & politics.

Dr. Berg has been teaching in Ottawa University’s MBA program since 2006. 

Dr. Sonja Bethune holds an M.Ed. in Counseling from Wichita State University and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from Alliant International University, previously known as California School of Professional Psychology. She has also earned her MBA in Social Media Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University.

Dr. Bethune is a licensed Clinical Psychologist for the state of California; however, she recently relocated to her hometown in Wichita, KS. She has acquired over 22 years of experience working in various settings relating to the field of psychology: high schools, intensive outpatient clinics, hospitals, colleges, community-based treatment centers, in-home treatment, adolescent group homes, and residential treatment centers. For the past several years, she has been teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in subjects pertaining to psychology for various online institutions.

Key occupational accomplishments include being the Director of Assessment and Referral for a few psychiatric hospitals in Southern California in which she effectively supervised crisis situations with patients as well as administered psychiatric assessments to the chronically mentally ill population. She also worked for a clinical trials company that focused on developing new psychotropic medications for various mental disorders. Furthermore, she has provided online cognitive behavioral therapy to adults who present with relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. She has demonstrated her passion for teaching through various scholastic accomplishments in which she co-authored a book that focuses on teaching strategies for online instructors. She also co-authored and published a journal article that centers on implicit bias within the online classroom. 

Dr. Black earned his PhD in Education in 2010 with a primary focus on higher education administration and distance education technologies. He also has an MBA in Technology Management and an MS in Healthcare Informatics. Dr. Black began working professionally in IT operations support and management in 1990 and entered the higher education and educational technologies arena in 2000. Dr. Black has extensive IT operations and project management experience and has led IT for both Fortune 500 and Research 1 University organizations. In conjunction with teaching and administration in higher education, he currently also works as an IT Director with an IT services outsourcing company in Salt Lake City. Dr. Black enjoys sharing his IT experience as it relates to the topics presented in classes and how they apply in current industry areas.

Professor Bond currently works for United Health Group as a Director of Data Engineering supporting a team of business analysts and data developers in managing the Midwest region reporting and analytics for our Medicare population.  She has been with United for the last 14 years.  Professor Bond has their master's in business administration, master information systems management, and leadership certificate and will be obtaining their doctorate in the spring of 2024 from Franklin University.  They have been an adjunct professor at Ottawa University since 2019.  Professor Bond has helped to write three separate courses for the data analytics space with Ottawa.  Their favorite course that they both wrote and have taught often is People's Analytics.  Professor Bond loves the concept of business analysis and helping employees develop and improve their organizational situations.  

Dr. Borisov grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and completed her undergraduate degree at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University), her Masters at the University of Phoenix, and her Doctorate at Olivet Nazarene University. Spending the early years of her career in the healthcare accounting field, Dr. Borisov was always drawn to education and the opportunity to teach others. Deciding to pursue her passion for teaching, Dr. Borisov left the healthcare setting and began her master's work in elementary education, teaching in elementary, high school, and college classrooms around the country since 2008. Dr. Borisov has taught with Ottawa University since 2020 and is passionate about educating future educators. Dr. Nicholas Bowersox is currently an operations research analyst for the Department of Defense, United States Air Force, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH. In this role, he provides statistical and mathematical analyses to analyze the Department of Defense Supply Chain. Additionally, Nicholas is quite active in the academic arena. He has been a college professor for ten years, both  teaching and developing courses from the doctoral to undergraduate level in a wide variety of areas such as general management, leadership, strategic management, business policy, organizational behavior, human resources, knowledge/information management, business ethics, business statistics, and algebra. He has taught both traditional and online students of all types, including both military and civilian, as well as traditional and adult learners in accelerated learning formats.  In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, trail running, disc golf, being outdoors, and spending quality time with his beautiful wife.

Nathan Braun is a talented educator with nearly a decade of experience teaching in higher education. His ability to make lasting connections with students is not only impressive, but the measure he uses to gauge his success. Prior to his time in higher education, Nathan served as the IT Director for a national healthcare company and has extensive experience in the world of computer and information security. Nathan looks forward to putting this experience to work for the students of Ottawa University.

Professor Bruce has been teaching in higher education for 21 years which includes 14 years at Ottawa University. They teach undergrad, MBA and doctoral classes. Some of the courses that they teach are Management and Leadership, organizational behavior, Capstone, Business Sustainability and Ethics, Business Math, and Economics. Prior to teaching they spent 15 years in the printing industry.

Judge Bryant is an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Arizona. He started his legal career as a Law Clerk at the Arizona Court of Appeals and then as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arizona. He was an ALJ with the Arizona Office of Administrative Hearings and heard a wide variety of cases from 1997 to 2014. One of his areas of specialty is Special Education Law, as he was one of only two ALJs who heard and decided Special Education cases for the entire State over a fifteen-year period. He is currently an ALJ for the Arizona Board of Fingerprinting. He has taught Legal Assisting classes in almost every area of law for over 20 years. He started teaching Special Education Law at Ottawa in 2014. Judge Bryant also teaches Education Law and US Constitution.

Lisa Buccigrosse is an Ottawa University Faculty Member at the Residential Campus in Surprise, Arizona. She has been with Ottawa University since 2011. She instructs classes in teacher education, liberal arts, and foreign languages. She has been an educator in a variety of capacities (teacher, professor, administrator, instructional coach, and mentor) since 2001 at both the elementary (K-8) and higher education levels. She has both online and face-to-face teaching experiences as well as course development and curriculum development for both modalities of instructing and learning. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Spanish, which she received from Rutger’s University. Her Master’s degree is in Elementary Education, which she received from Saint Joseph’s University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, recently renewed in 2018, in the area of Early and Middle Childhood with a specialization in English as a New Language. She is certified in the State of Arizona with Principal and Elementary Teaching Certificates and endorsements in Early Childhood, English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education (English/Spanish), and Gifted Education. Lisa also serves as a national presenter and course facilitator with the National Education Association.

For fun, Lisa enjoys traveling. She has traveled to 27 foreign countries to expand her cultural awareness and understanding. Additionally, she enjoys taking care of her adopted rescue animals including dogs, cats, parrots, and horses.

Professor Kimberly Byrd is a Full Time Instructor in the School of Business at Ottawa University.   She was born in the Republic of Panama and lived there until she was 18 years old.  Her family owns several businesses including a construction company, a property management company, and a landscaping company.  She is very involved in the PTA at the local schools and work with the teachers and children every week.   She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with honors.  She then tackled the Certified Public Accountant exam and passed.  She worked for several years in the business world and decided to take on the challenge of a Master’s Degree in accounting.  She felt the best option for her to accomplish this goal was online classes due to her workload, family schedule, and many responsibilities.  She knows personally what a sacrifice it is to make the commitment to attend college while having so many other obligations. She also graduated with honors from her Master’s program. Professor Byrd has been in the accounting profession for many years.  She has worked in private, public, governmental and non-profit organizations.  She has also worked for several accounting firms.

Professor Cardiel has over 25 years of experience working in Financial Accounting.  Positions held were Financial Controller and CFO. They have worked in manufacturing, hospitals, banking, and real estate industries. 

Dr. Carlson spent her formative years in Denver Colorado where she enjoyed skiing, camping, biking and tae kwon do. She left Colorado to go out of state to California for her education. During her undergraduate years she worked as a chemist for American McGaw Pharmaceuticals. After earning a doctorate at UCLA (in the Mental Retardation Research Center) she did post-doctoral research for 6 years at University of California Irvine, California State University Fullerton and University of Colorado School of Medicine. During this time, she was inspired by conversations with Hugh Ross who went on to found “Reasons to Believe”, and Francis Collins, then head of the Human Genome Project. Dr. Carlson went on to become an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at University of Colorado at Denver where she developed an interest in the biochemistry of nutrition and did research on the iron storage protein ferritin.

She had a heart to integrate faith and learning and this lead her to a position at Colorado Christian University as an Associate Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Carlson has also enjoyed teaching AP and IB biology and chemistry in high school for many years. She lives in Surprise and enjoys golf, camping, biking scuba diving, worshiping God, spending time with family and friends and teaching chemistry!

Professor Carrington is currently working as part-time Adjunct Instructor at the OU-Brookfield, Wisconsin Campus where she teaches human services courses as well as provide tutoring services for the COMPS Exam and the Writing Center.  She also works full-time as Licensed Professional Counselor at a local Mental Health Clinic.  

Instructor Mark Cederburg grew up in Kansas City and obtained degrees in psychology, sociology, and social work. These degrees prepared him for work in the fields of child welfare, family services, mental health, and disabilities. For the past 15 years, Mr. Cederburg has focused on academia, teaching ground and online classes at several universities. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences with budding human service workers.

Dr. Ovett Chapman Jr. holds a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Arizona and serves as the Lead School Psychologist for the Pendergast Elementary School District in Phoenix, Arizona. In this capacity, Dr. Chapman works collaboratively with educators, therapists, and support staff, focusing on enhancing educational outcomes and well-being for students.

Additionally, Dr. Chapman is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University, where he brings his extensive experience in school psychology to the classroom, equipping future professionals with the knowledge and skills needed for the field.

His background includes providing clinical services at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles USC Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and working within Arizona's child welfare system. These roles have contributed to Dr. Chapman's comprehensive approach to addressing the mental and emotional health needs of young people.

Dr. Chapman also holds the position of Western Regional Director for the Arizona Association of School Psychologists (AASP) and has participated in the AASP’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force. His involvement with the AASP aligns with his professional commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive educational environments for students across Arizona.

Mary Helen Clark, M.A., has taught various communication courses at the undergraduate level. She leads her classroom with empowerment and critical pedagogy. Originating from Indiana, Mary Helen has lived in multiple states and has taught at many public and private universities.

Sue Cohen earned a BS degree in Psychology and an MSW in Social Work from the University of Illinois. She worked as a therapist for the first ten years of her career and then served as a Program Administrator in a large non-profit organization in Northeast Wisconsin overseeing a variety of services in the areas of crisis intervention, sexual assault, youth prevention, and treatment programs and services for runaway and homeless youth. She has been teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs in Wisconsin for the past 25 years. Currently, she serves as a Supervisor of Initial Assessment Specialists for the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Sue enjoys doing federal grant reviews and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dr. Donna Connolly has garnered acclaim from locales as diverse as Bangkok, Cairo, Manila, Hong Kong, Korea, and Italy and major opera and concert houses in New York City and the United States.  
                  
A Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition winner, as well as a first prizewinner in the Liederkranz Foundation Competition, and National Federation of Music Clubs National winner, she is also a recipient of the Sullivan Foundation Grant and the Puccini Foundation Award.  She has performed with Bravo Productions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.  In addition, she was selected for the distinguished Voice     Internship at Mount Sinai’s Grabscheid Voice Center in New York City under the leadership of Dr. Peak Woo.  
 
Dr. Connolly has her DMA degree from Rutgers University Mason Gross School for the Arts and her Master’s degree is from Carnegie-Mellon University.  She is a proud alumnus of Seton Hill University where she was honored with the title of Distinguished Alum.  Presently she is an Adjunct Professor at Ottawa University in Surprise, AZ, and Grand Canyon University in Glendale, AZ.   Dr. Connolly is a member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing and the New York Singing Teachers Association.  Dr. Connolly had the pleasure of serving as a faculty member at the AIMS Summer Music program in Graz, Austria as well as a faculty member of Tarleton University’s Summer Music Study Abroad program in Tuscania, Italy under the auspices of the Lorenzo de Medici School in Italy.

David Cook is an instructor of communication. He received his BA in Organizational Management from Southern California College (Now Vanguard University), and his MA in Human Communication from Cal. State University with concentrations in persuasion/compliance gaining and organizational communication.  David has more than 25 years of management experience in the public and private sectors. In 2004 He founded his own communications company providing corporate training and consulting to clients ranging from local pastors to fortune 100 companies. He has taught at Ottawa since 2006. 

Doug Copeland grew up in North Kansas City, Missouri and completed his undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science, as well as his Master’s in Economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Doug has 37 years teaching as a full-time faculty member at Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University and Johnson County Community College. He has taught a wide variety of courses beyond economics, including finance, international business, and statistics. He has also authored many editions of Study Guides, Instructor’s Manuals, and Test Banks that accompany textbooks, and has co-authored a few textbooks as well over the last 30 years. Doug has been excited to teach for Ottawa since 2015. In his spare time he enjoys horseback riding and traveling.

Dr. Crisp is an instructor and course content expert in Ottawa's online master's nursing leadership program. She has been a pediatric nurse for the past 40 years serving in a variety of leadership capacities in both professional and volunteer arenas. She received her doctorate in 2009 and taught at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus for 7 years before taking time off to care for her mother at the end of life. Dr. Crisp is mother of a young adult who is medically complex and ventilator dependent, works as a pediatric home care nurse, volunteers for a Boston terrier rescue, and is mom to 2 dogs, 3 cats, and foster mom to 1 Boston terrier through the rescue, In her spare time, she likes to read, knit, and practice photography.

I have worked in the field of social work since first graduating with my BSW in 1977.  I have worked in a variety of settings; from non-profits, public child welfare, community based hospitals, Veteran's Administration Hospital and a large Medical Center and Level 1 Trauma Center.  I have been teaching at Ottawa, on and off, for over 20 years.

Professor Cull is a licensed attorney who has been teaching in higher education for over 23 years. They have developed online courses, migrated courses from one LMS to another, mentored courses, and served as an advisor to students. They just completed authoring a Tort Law textbook for Cengage. They have also written over 8000 assessment questions, instructor manuals, power points, and more to coincide with different textbooks for different areas. They are well-versed in multiple LMS and computer systems as well as design programs. 

I have twenty years experience providing vocational counseling to diverse individuals including Veterans, individuals with disabilities, college students, worker's compensation recipients, and those who are unemployed.  I am also experienced in administering vocational evaluations and assessing job readiness, transferable skills, job seeking skills, occupational knowledge, and work habits of individuals.  Additional experience in career development counseling and addressing strengths and barriers in community and educational settings.  

Dr. Jaime Davis is an education and organization consultant in addition to her teaching roles at several colleges and universities. Jaime holds a Ph.D. in Business Management with an emphasis in Leadership. She is a dynamic public speaker and has spoken at several conferences and events on topics such as leadership, communication, customer service, and the power of influence. 
 

Professor Day is an RN with a background in med/surg for 10 years and Staff Development for an additional 10 years in a local hospital.  They joined Ottawa University to teach online Nursing courses.  They enjoy teaching new nursing students and RN to BSN students furthering their degree.  Nursing is their passion and they enjoy teaching nursing courses to others.

Julie Dilling resides in Wisconsin with her family. She completed her doctoral degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology with an emphasis in Integrating Technology, Learning and Psychology, at Grand Canyon University. Julie's research on teaching presence and social presence in the online classroom continues to be at the forefront of her teaching methods to promote a collaborative online learning experience for students. Julie is a licensed CPA.  While working on her Master’s Degree, Julie was a senior manager for an international public accounting firm implementing accounting software and training clients on how to effectively use the software in their organization.  After completing her Masters, Julie began teaching undergraduate courses in the Accounting program for a variety of colleges. Her passion for teaching grew, and in 2003 she left the corporate world to become an educator full-time.   Julie continues to consult for former clients while teaching full-time at a local community college and enjoys the practical application as well as the opportunity to share business world examples with students.  Julie teaches on the Brookfield campus as well as online for Ottawa University in their undergraduate, graduate, and EMBA programs. She is committed to supporting student success and promoting meaningful learning.

Dr. Barbara Dinneen received her undergraduate degree in History and English from Oberlin College, and her masters and PhD in literature from Washington University in St. Louis; she wrote her dissertation on the novels of Willa Cather. She has been teaching literature and interdisciplinary humanities at Ottawa University since 1996, and has served in several administrative capacities during her tenure, including director of liberal arts studies, academic dean, and interim provost. Writing and scholarly pursuits include presentations at the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment Conference, the Baseball in Literature and Culture Conference, and the Sport in Literature Association conference. Her essay "Daughters Watching Fathers Playing Catch with Sons" was published in the December 2016 issue of Aethlon; she has presented papers on topics as disparate as Jane Eyre's tragic abandonment of her natural self,Charley Pride's unique baseball and country music careers, and the merits of using writing-across-the-curriculum techniques to defuse fear of poetry. Ongoing creative projects include two novels.

In her spare time, Barbara plants potatoes, harvests blackberries, sighs heavily, and walks her dogs.

I want to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I completed the Doctor of Public Health degree and pursued a graduate certificate in Applied Biostatistics at the University of South Florida. It was essential to attain a background in population health and statistics to interpret and convey healthcare data. I have my master’s in health management and Policy from New York Medical College and additional AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) coursework that emphasized Biomedical, Health Information Management, and Coding Basics. This master’s program and AHIMA education complemented my bachelor’s in health care management from Ottawa University (Arizona). My master’s and doctorate were online programs, which gave me a deeper understanding of what online students experience when achieving their education.
Currently, I work in the Health Care Economics and Market Access (HEMA) division for a medical device manufacturer; however, I am field-based and have much flexibility. In my day-to-day activities, I educate executives, physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff on technical information about cardiovascular disease, healthcare economics, and reimbursement. The financial and reimbursement aspects of healthcare are a constant theme in my conversations with these stakeholders. I typically present healthcare information in many forums that range from one-on-one conversations to speaking in front of roughly 60+ healthcare professionals. Furthermore, I have a background in cardiovascular research at both the clinical and manufacturer levels. 
 

Carolyn Doolittle is a reading specialist in the Gardner-Edgerton School District.  When she began her career in the early elementary classroom, she soon realized the importance of starting students off as strong readers, and so began her graduate work to become a reading specialist. She moved into the higher education realm, and spent more than twenty-five years in teacher education programs as adviser, professor, and program director.  A little more than 5 years ago, however, she felt it was time to return to the world of K-12 teaching, to gain a sense of what the realities of teaching were for the 21st Century teacher. Dr. Doolittle holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in reading and language arts.  She serves on her district’s ELA curriculum committee and as an instructional coach. In order to stay connected to the higher ed. classroom, she continues to adjunct, and present at various conferences and workshops.

Christine Douglass grew up in Livonia, Michigan and completed her undergraduate degree at Eastern Michigan with a major in Communication and a minor in Professional Writing.  Upon graduation, Christine worked ten years as a Human Resources Manager for a local cable and internet provider.  While working, Christine served as a graduate teaching assistant at Eastern Michigan University and graduated with an MA in Communication.  Shortly after graduation she made a career change to the academic world and has been teaching online and in the traditional classroom for the past ten years.  Christine enjoys being able to integrate her real world experience in her day to day encounters in the classroom.  Christine is currently working on a second Masters at Davenport University in Business Management.

Adam Dregely is currently completing a Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program.  During his training he obtained supervised practica and internship placements in the areas of substance use as well as child and adolescent psychology.  As part of his doctoral training he is completing a doctoral project on the barriers to substance use recovery that LGBTQIA+ individuals experience and has contributed to a variety of published works.   Adam has professional, personal, and training history in traumatic stress.  He has provided training in the state of Arizona to foster agencies, works as a surrogate parent for the AZ Department of Education for foster youth, and regularly volunteers in service of those who have experienced trauma.  

Instructor grew up in Wisconsin and completed her undergraduate work at University of Wisconsin Madison. She completed her dual Masters program at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike Ohio. She has worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, school settings and outpatient clinics. The last ten years she has run a successful group private practice. She has taught with Ottawa University since 2023 and enjoys integrating her clinical experience for students in the classroom. 

Donald D. Dunn is a faculty member who has taught 33 different courses in leadership, management, ethics, business ethics, and practical ministry for six universities over the last eight years. He holds a BA in Religion from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a Master of Liberal Studies degree in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays State University, and a PhD in Organization and Management (specializing in Leadership) from Capella University. His subject matter expertise (SME) is in ethical leadership concentrating in business ethics. In addition to his teaching roles, Dr. Dunn offers his research-based The Moldable Model© to help companies design ethical workplaces, committed employees, and competitive advantage. Dunn authored an executive MBA textbook in 2016, published by Business Expert Press entitled: “Designing Ethical Workplaces: The Moldable Model©.” Dr. Dunn has taught for Ottawa University for seven years both in the undergraduate and graduate business programs.

Ms. Durant holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law.  She also holds a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership from Duquesne University.Currently, she teaches both graduate and undergraduate course at Ottawa University. Ms. Durant has been a practicing international business attorney for the past 17 years with concentrations in business development, cyber law and intellectual property. Additionally, Ms. Durant has spent many years as a technology sector international business consultant. Further, Ms. Durant serves as a non-profit board member for several national organizations and has served as corporate general counsel on several instances.  Ms. Durant has authored several business law articles and is a frequent public speaker and conference panelist on legal matters and emerging global economic issues.

Elhan Durguti is from Lawrence, Kansas. He is husband to a beautiful wife, father to a precious newborn daughter, and has a passion for teaching. In the early years of his professional career he worked for the casino and hotel industry promoting gaming and training staff to the new customer relationship management policies. He has also spent time in the pharmaceutical industry educating clients of their medical prescription benefits. Mr. Durguti’s passion for education made the transition to higher education a natural fit. He is currently a senior business faculty at Grantham University where he teaches business courses, ranging from Business Statistics, Principles of Business Management, Ethics and Business, Marketing, Business Negotiations, International Business, and Business Policy and Strategy. In addition to teaching Mr. Durguti manages and mentors faculty and staff, designs business courses, and manages assessment projects for his university. He joined the Ottawa family in 2015 as an adjunct for the School of Business. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling to different countries, reading, writing, and playing golf.

Professor Durkin utilizes his law and business experiences teaching Business Law, Business Ethics and a variety of other courses. Durkin worked in a major Chicago law firm prior to opening a private law practice. He became an entrepreneur and was the owner/operator of businesses in Chicago and Atlanta. He also received a real estate license and worked as a small business broker helping business owners valuate, sell and purchase companies and real estate in Southern California. He has mentored at-risk youth through mentorship programs for over 20 years. He is also a practicing corporate chaplain in the Phoenix area.

When he is not in the classroom, Professor Durkin enjoys playing golf, travelling and grilling.

Sarah has been teaching in higher education for 25 years. She has held a full-time faculty position at Carroll University for 13 years and is currently the Associate Dean and an Associate Professor in the Sullivan School of Business. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership and Innovation from Concordia University Chicago. Prior to teaching, she worked in many aspects of health care, including the federal government, hospital systems and private insurance. Sarah has experience in wellness, physician contract relations, and managed care. She has extensive experience in online course and program development and holds a special interest in distance learning programs and pedagogy. Sarah developed and started an undergraduate major in healthcare administration at Carroll in 2014, which is now the second largest major in the School of Business. Her research interests include the opportunities and challenges of women in leadership positions.

I have my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and minor in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I also have my Master's Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Corporate Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  
 

Dr. Allen Farina was raised in Wisconsin, but currently resides in Florida.  While in Wisconsin, Dr. Farina earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Marquette University and his master’s degree in Education at Lakeland University.  In Florida, he pursued doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Lynn University.  Dr. Farina currently works with learners at all levels of education with several universities and colleges.  He serves on dissertation committees for students pursuing doctoral degrees in Education, teaches graduate classes in Education, facilitates undergraduate courses in Sociology, and instructs students at the Associate level in Psychology.  Curriculum writing and mentoring new online faculty are also current job functions.  Past positions include teaching and administration in K-12 and higher education settings.  Dr. Farina’s passion is being of service to students with the goal of helping them build bridges to get from “where they are” to “where they want to be."  His favorite education mantra from the late and great Mr. Mandela is, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

I have been a nurse for 18 years and have worked in the following areas: Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Ortho, Long Term Care, Surgical Oncology, Vascular, and Med/Surg. I was fortunate to work on various units. I have been an educator since 2012 and have experience teaching in the classroom, nursing lab, online, clinical, and simulation. I have facilitated courses such as Nursing Research, Informatics, Palliative Care, Leadership, Med/Surg I, Health Policy, Family Nursing Roles, Nursing and Cultural Diversity, and Community-Based Nursing. I have facilitated clinical rotations for Nursing Fundamentals, Med/Surg, and Community Nursing. I earned an MSN with an emphasis in education in 2012 and a DNP in 2019. I stay abreast of current evidence-based nursing practices by continuing active membership in professional organizations and participating in professional development opportunities focused on the best strategies for teaching and learning. Jill Feller has been a Human Resource professional since 2002.  She has worked in manufacturing, retail and service industries throughout her career.  She has established Human Resource departments at two companies that she worked for when Human Resource was non-existent.  She is now an adjunct professor for the business department online. 

Dr. Heidi Fernandez is a disciplined and experienced leader, program designer, and professor with expertise in performance management and higher education administration. The focus of her career has been on leading academic operations in top-level higher education management roles, such as Department Chair, Associate Dean, Dean, and Interim Vice-Provost. She has delivered key initiatives through leadership, curriculum design and planning, and program management. One objective has been re-imagining educational resources in online courses.

Dr. Jimmie Flores has extensive background in both Management and IT courses. In fact, he has a doctorate in each of these disciplines. Over the past two decades, he has held professional employment positions in companies like Shell Oil Company, Prudential, and USAA. In 2000, he launched an IT company, which provided IT services to collegiate conferences. Because of his love for education, he decided to change career direction in 2008 and become an IT Consultant / Corporate Trainer. Today, he teaches courses that he developed to organizations, mostly related to Project Management and IT. He also directs global teams in their project management endeavors, and travel frequently to India, The Philippines, and South America. His academic and research interests include Information Technology, Global Business, Project Management, and Organizational Behavior.

Michelle Flory taught in the inner city elementary schools in Phoenix, Arizona before becoming a reading specialist with her master's degree from NAU.  She then went on to teach as an adjunct faculty member for seven colleges in Arizona before relocating to Utah with her family.  She currently is an adjunct faculty member for five colleges and is completing her PhD with Utah State University in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Literacy.  Her specialties are curriculum, literacy and reading coursework, and children's literature.

Dr. Forsyth (Bryan) has worked in a variety of industries including government, food, electronics, telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, distribution and education. Bryan’s principal areas of expertise include knowledge and learning management, human resource management, organizational and employee development, organizational systems interventions and leadership development. Bryan has been a professional in the training and development/education arena for approximately 30 years.

Additionally, Bryan is currently teaching business, management and other social science courses for undergraduate, MBA as well as Doctoral studies. Bryan received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University, majoring in Education, Training and Development. A Master of Arts degree from Ottawa University specializing in Human Resources and Organizational Change Management where he graduated at the top of his class. Bryan has completed his doctoral studies at Walden University for a degree in Applied Management and Decision Sciences emphasizing Knowledge and Learning Management where he also graduated at the top of his class. Lastly and most currently, Bryan has completed a Post-Doctoral Degree program in Global Leadership at Colorado Technical University.

Dr. Forsyth (Bryan) has a family of four and an extended family that involves many friends and colleagues around the globe. Travelling and taking a hike in the Rocky Mountains is always fun as is riding the mountain bike and being with family and those friends relaxing and enjoying life whenever possible.

Gary Fortney has a Master's Degree in Christian Ministries from Wheaton Graduate School and a Bachelor's degree in Christian Education from Taylor University – Fort Wayne. He has served as an education program director and specialist for over twenty years with the Arizona Department of Education.  His experience also includes administration of Christian Schools in the Phoenix area along with being a pulpit supply for several churches. Earlier experience also included serving as a youth pastor. Gary has facilitated virtual classes for seven years total. Facilitating these classes has been answer to prayer and fulfillment of a life-long vision for ministry. 

My name is Jarred Fuhrman.  In 2012 I completed my 2nd masters in curriculum and instruction from Ottawa. I have worked in education for 19 years, with the most recent position as the head principal at Basehor-Linwood High School.   In my career I have also taught Spanish and was an assistant principal prior to taking over the head position. I currently am working as HR Manager at an Amazon Warehouse in the corporate world and have been able to take many of the things I learned from education into my new job. 

I am also married to my beautiful wife, Kassi of 16 years and we have two wonderful children- Kennadi(15), Maxxwell(12).  I very much enjoy my Kansas City Chiefs, my K-State Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinals.  I enjoy watching my kids play sports, spending time with my family and serving with my church family.  I also do enjoy reading and journaling in my quiet time. 

Dr. Fuller Biography:
Having attained a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership, I realize how valuable experiential learning is in the classroom. My doctoral dissertation focused on experiential learning, or more specifically, the isomorphic mechanisms of transformational leadership skills development and transference through the use of metaphor. 

The past 40 plus years of management/leadership experiences has afforded opportunities to observe business function pertaining to employer/stakeholder interactions, successes, and failures. My agribusiness related professional life strengthens my academic association with student professionals of widely diverse backgrounds. I believe the interpersonal insight into how professionals in other industries think and act is the core of experiential learning, and the foundation of effective classroom learning. Interestingly enough, the thoughts of business and social functions are very similar across industries and this is ever present in the online learning environment where student make-up is industry, ethnically, and racially diverse. The diversity of the adult student base aids in making the online learning experience a valuable life-long learning opportunity in the classroom and at work, that is further enhanced when combined with concepts and theory from the courses.  

As a facilitator, I adhere to the highest personal and professional morals and ethics. I openly embrace new ideas and apply my efforts with the utmost diligence. I maintain a very high work ethic and welcome the viewpoint of others into the conversation. I expect the same from my students.

Teaching/Instruction History
I have taught nearly all manner of classes pertaining to business management and organizational leadership, including many research courses. I began my career as a regional operations manager in the agribusiness industry and later was a territory manager for a national agribusiness company. I had a private management consulting business for 10 years after this. During this time, I felt a calling toward and began teaching at some universities/colleges and quickly went full-time in an EdD in Organizational Leadership program, where I transitioned into also becoming the IRB Chair for the colleges of Psychology, Education, DBA, and Organizational Leadership. I was an Assistant Program Director for a DBA program where I managed 30 plus dissertation faculty, hired, reviewed, taught, and chaired as well. In 2007 I was one of the principal partners in a university start-up that just recently sold. I have chaired over 70 doctoral dissertations in EdD, DBA, and PhD programs. I have also chaired many Masters capstone and theses in various business programs including MSM, MBA, and Communications. I am additionally a strong APA instructor and editor having taught APA to colleagues and administrators and editing many classroom papers, capstone/ theses, doctoral dissertations, and IRB materials. I have experienced APA from the fourth to now the seventh edition. Much of what I have accomplished overlapped with me doing several of these ventures at the same time, with a great many hours spent each day involved with each venture. 😊

After graduating from the University of Kansas in 2020, he began his music teaching career by accepting a long-term substitute teacher position in the Blue Valley school district. After that position concluded, he continued his subbing journey for various music grade levels such as elementary general music and beginning band/orchestra. Following that year in Blue Valley, he accepted his current position as the elementary general music teacher at Sunflower Elementary here in Ottawa. Being in Ottawa has presented him with several opportunities to perform with the Ottawa City Band and the OU Wind Ensemble.

Brian is an experienced technology leader who has spent his 28 year career in sales leadership, partnership/channel leadership, portfolio leadership, and individual contributor roles for large Fortune 500 companies throughout North America and abroad.  A demonstrated performer and team leader by consistently exceeding results, creating go-to-market strategies, and leading successful practices from $1B+ annually.  Brian has experience working in markets that include, ecosystems/partnerships, global, enterprise, state/local government, education, telecommunications, media, high tech, and aerospace.

Today, Brian leads the global technology Infrastructure Services and Digital Cloud partnership organizations as a member of Wipro’s Chief Growth Office. His team consists of 30 team members located in the Americas, Europe, India, Asia/Pacific, and Middle East. 

In this role, Brian is responsible for the overall sell-with and sell thru strategy, performance, and executive relationships for Wipro’s most strategic partners. He is accountable for growth, go-to-market campaigns, and the overall partnership agenda for the Fullstride Cloud Global Business Line (GBL). While Brian reports into the Chief Growth Office, he is also accountable to the executive leadership of the Cloud and Infrastructure Services practices and is responsible for creating multi-partner opportunities across all Wipro business lines ensuring cross-collaboration and strategy. In FY24, Brian is accountable for $1.6B in partner-influenced order bookings.

Michael is a nurse practitioner (FNP-C, ENP-C) who has a background working in rural and urban emergency departments. He also works in telehealth with chronically ill patients to help manage their chronic and acute conditions. The focus is on keeping this patient population's chronic diseases managed to keep them out of the hospital setting.

Dr. Audra Gardner was born, raised and currently lives in Silicon Valley.  She taught her first chronic disease self-management class on campus for Stanford back in 1995 and fell in love with the online format after teaching the first online version of this course in 1998. She completed her PhD coursework online, so she understands what it's like to be an online student as well as online professor. Dr. Gardner has a passion for teaching in the online environment and helping students achieve their academic and professional goals. She has taught students with a wide range of academic goals from those wishing to pursue a certificate to resident MD's. Dr. Gardner has also trained many distance educators. She currently teaches various classes at several universities and serves on about a dozen dissertation committees at any given time - and loves every minute of it!

Barbara Gast, DM, is the Vice President for United Chase Group, an executive recruiting and leadership consultancy group. She is credited with over 35 years of expertise in human resource management, performance consulting and leadership development. She held the title of vice president in the private sector of association management and marketing boards. As an agency director in the public sector, she co-authored the state code of ethics governing licensing of healthcare professionals. Dr. Gast completed her studies including the Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership, the Master of Science in Agribusiness Marketing and Management, and the Master of Arts in Organizational Management.  She is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and American Society for Training and Development.  She served three years on the Arizona Cancer Society’s scientific research task force.

Dr. Gast enjoys hiking around Piestewa Peak Mountain in central Phoenix. She has one son who is an attorney in Tucson.

Professor Gill has taught both core and non core subjects. Professor Gill has taught at urban, suburban, and residential psychiatric hospitals. Professor Gill has also been an administrator for a behavior program. Professor Gill is currently working as a school psychologist and adjunct professor. 

Deacon is the Lead Pastor of Vintage Church in Lawrence, KS, is the co-author of the Cross Vision Study Guide with Dr. Gregory Boyd, and an Adjunct Professor of Religion at Ottawa University.

James-Etta Goodloe, EdD is an Adjunct Faculty member at Ottawa University’s Indiana campus.  Dr. James-Etta earned her doctorate in Education and Adult Learning at Walden University.  She teaches liberal arts capstone courses and has served as a Subject Matter Expert for Ottawa's Online division.  As a student, Dr. James-Etta earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Management at Ottawa's Wisconsin Campus. While in Wisconsin she went on to earn her Master of Education degree from Carroll University. She has taught for Ottawa University since 2008 and enjoys guiding students through the same courses she once took as an OU student.

Professor Gould has a bachelor’s degree in Education and History with a minor in English. Gould also has a master’s degree in English, History, and Classical Civilizations from the University of Montana. In pursuit of his master’s degree Gould traveled to Rome and Greece giving lectures on various subjects in Ancient Classical History and Classical Mythology. Gould has taught all levels of academia and taught a few classes to senior citizens. For the past 18 years Gould has been teaching English Literature, Composition and Grammar as well as Humanities courses, at Glendale Community College and Estrella Mountain Community College in Arizona. Over the course of Gould’s career, he has written and revised a collection of writing rubrics and lesson plans and integrated them into online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes. My leisure time is spent with various hobbies mostly sewing and embroidery. My greatest joys are my tri-pawed Boxer Ethel and my Boxmas Newt both of whom are rescues.

Judy Grady, MSW, is an adjunct professor at Ottawa University's Wisconsin campus.  She has been a practicing psychotherapist for over 30 years and currently maintains a private practice in addition to teaching.  Judy's current area of interest is in the area of neurobiology as it applies to mental wellness, and the use of mindfulness meditation and yoga as healing tools.

Judy is a Wisconsin native.  When not in the classroom or therapy office, she can be found wandering the globe, sewing in her studio, experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen, or on the yoga mat.

Originally from Vermont, Dr. Greenia moved to California to earn the MHA degree in 1991. Since that time he has spent his life in the warmer weather offered by the West Coast. Dr. Greenia has over twenty years of diverse experience in healthcare operations, quality management and strategic planning. He has worked in several settings, including government, for-profit, not-for-profit, academic medical centers as well as a children’s hospital. Dr. Greenia is board-certified in healthcare management and is a Fellow of the American Colleges of Healthcare Executives. 

Becky Gregory is an adjunct professor from Goodyear, Arizona, with 23 years of teaching experience.  She has taught history, political science and English at the middle school, high school, and college level.   Becky holds a Bachelors in Secondary Education from Drake University, a Master’s in Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. Becky began working at Ottawa University in 2008.  She currently teaches Political Science classes for Ottawa University Online as well as American History and English at the high school level. When she is not teaching, you can find her spending time with her husband and three dogs.  
 

Prior to teaching at Ottawa, Mary Alice Grosser was a practicing Social Worker for over 30 years.  She worked in Child Protective Services both as a Social Worker and Supervisor in Wisconsin as well as California.  While in California she partnered with Cal-State San Bernardino and San Bernardino County Social Services to bring a BSW and MSW to the local University and provided supervision for the Title IV E Stipend Program.  While there she also taught Child Abuse and Neglect classes for the MSW program.  
Mary Alice was also the Program Director for the Children's Advocacy Center of San Bernardino County providing supervision for the forensic child abuse program which included training for law enforcement and other community partners.  
After returning to Wisconsin in 2006, Mary Alice worked as a Supervisor in CPS for Waukesha County.  In 2010 she began teaching as an Adjunct instructor for Ottawa's Brookfield Campus and in 2016 became the Professor in Charge for the Human and Social Services Adult and online program.  In 2023 she retired from her administrative position at Ottawa however remains an Adjunct instructor for Wisconsin and online classes. Mary Alice continues to enjoy her ongoing role with students looking to be the professional helpers of tomorrow.

Dr. Eric Habrel is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University and teaches courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling program. Dr. Habrel taught at the graduate level in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee for over 20 years and has been an adjunct faculty member at Ottawa University - Wisconsin since 2012.  He has also served as a faculty member and approved supervisor with the Family Therapy Training Institute since 1988 and provides consultation services to Aurora Family Service and Recovery Point. Dr. Habrel has been in private practice as a Psychologist in Southeastern Wisconsin since 1986. His expertise in marital and family therapy is used in his clinical work, consulting and seminar presentations as well as in the teaching, supervising and training of other mental health professionals throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. 

Brent Hafner is an adjunct faculty member with over 30 years of experience in IT, academia, and business sectors.  After graduating from Purdue University with a science degree and obtaining a teaching certification, he taught in the public schools before getting his Computer Science masters and moving into the IT field as a programmer and Systems Engineer.  While working, he taught evenings as an adjunct professor at American Intercontinental University teaching adults seeking the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business and technology.  After relocating to a new job as Systems Administrator, he obtained his Doctorate in Business with an emphasis in Information Technology, which opened the door for his current role at Ottawa University.

In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys running, hiking, biking, and swimming as well as reading topics as they relate to history, philosophy, technology, and science.
 

After a career in corporate accounting with firms such as Standard Oil in Chicago, The John Connolly Group in Iowa, and Kindercare Learning Centers in Alabama, Professor Mary Haines has served in such positions as Operations Controller, Assistant Director of Finance, Accounting Manager, and Controller. Mary has been bringing her accounting experience and passion for learning to the classroom for 18 years as an adjunct instructor for Huntingdon College and currently Ottawa University. When not teaching, Mary works part-time coordinating fundraising events to raise support for seminary student education. Most recently, she worked for a local CPA firm during tax season, redesigning their website and assisting in their conversion to a paperless environment. Active in her community, she serves on the executive board of a local non-profit and High School PTO. She resides with her husband and two sons in Overland Park, Kansas.

Instructor Hankins grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and completed her undergraduate degree at Missouri State University.  She began her career as a high school English teacher, teaching literature and composition courses, while pursuing her MLA, with a concentration in Literature.  Upon completion of her MLA degree, Instructor Hankins decided to make a career change from secondary education to post-secondary education.  She completed her MAEd with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas in 2017.  She has taught with Ottawa University since 2010.

In her spare time, Instructor Hankins enjoys running, reading and spending time with her family.

Professor Harder spent the first five years of his teaching career as a 6th grade math teacher in Seattle, WA and Overland Park, Kansas. Professor Harder is now teaching Intermediate Algebra at Olathe North in Olathe, Kansas, and working as an adjunct professor for Ottawa University. 

George Hattendorf currently serves as an Adjunct Music Faculty member at Glendale Community College and Music Education Faculty at Ottawa University. He retired after 44 years as a music educator and most recently as the Director of Bands/Orchestra and Fine Arts Department Leader at Mountain Ridge High School (2005-2017) in Glendale, Arizona where he served for twelve years. Prior to his appointment at this Deer Valley School, he was the band director and department leader at Barry Goldwater High School (2002-2005) for three years and prior to his move to Arizona he was the Director of Bands and Orchestra at Chesterton High School in Chesterton, Indiana for twenty years. In addition to public school positions in Illinois, Stevenson High School (1987-1989), and Georgia, where he opened Lassiter High School in 1982, Mr. Hattendorf was the Associate Director of Bands at New Mexico State University (1985-1987) where he was the director of the “Pride” Marching Band in addition to concert and other athletic bands and the percussion studio. He also served as Associate Professor of Music at VanderCook College of Music (1982-1985) in Chicago where he was in charge of concert and jazz bands and the percussion studio. 

Ensembles under his direction amassed an enviable record of excellence in the areas of concert, marching and jazz including numerous state, regional and national recognitions. The Mountain Ridge Bands received consistent Superior and Superior with Distinction honors in concert, jazz and marching activities. The Mountain Ridge “Pride of the West” Marching Band appeared as a 2007 Rose Bowl Parade participant, a 2008 Arizona representative to the Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship and Parade, 2009 the band was the only Arizona representative to the 56th Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C. honoring President Barack Obama, in 2011 the band represented Arizona and the USS Arizona in the Waikiki Holiday Parade and events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, in 2014 the Woodwind Choir and Saxophone Orchestra represented Arizona at the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, in 2015 the program was commissioned by the NFL to perform at the 2015 Pro-Bowl, the 2015 NFL Experience and  Super Bowl XLIX, and in 2016 the band once again represented Arizona and the USS Arizona in the Waikiki Holiday Parade and events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The bands also presented eight clinic performances at the Arizona Music Educators Association State Convention including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Jazz Band, Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Choir and Woodwind Ensemble. Additionally the Mountain Ridge Winter Guard was recognized as State Champion six times.

The Chesterton High School bands were also recognized in the areas of concert, marching and jazz. The Trojan Guard Marching Band was a four-time Indiana state champion 1978-1981, as well as Bands of America Regional and Grand National finalist and the 1981 Indiana representative to the Presidential Inaugural Parade for President Ronald Reagan. Additionally the Chesterton Winter Guard was a four time Indiana High School Color Guard Association state champion. The bands performed at state music conferences as well as the Outback Bowl Parade/Concert/Field/Jazz champions twice. The New Mexico State Pride Band performed at Oakland Raiders game and was the collegiate inaugural band at the Lord Mayor of London New Year’s Day Parade in 1986.

Mr. Hattendorf graduated from Indiana University with degrees in Music Performance/Music Education (1973) and from VanderCook College of Music (1980) with a Master of Music Education. Mr. Hattendorf was recognized for excellence in teaching on numerous occasions by the Duneland School Corporation and was chosen as an Outstanding Music Educator in the Chicagoland area (1993). Mr. Hattendorf was recognized as a Deer Valley Unified School District.

Twenty-five years financial services professional held six FINRA licenses. Held positions of broker, advisor, hedge-fund trader, instructor, investor relations and marketing for financial and non-financial firms. Taught at college and university levels (undergraduate and graduate) across a broad spectrum of disciplines since 2002. Classes included finance, economics, personal investing, cultural diversity, business management, statistics, international studies. Acted as facilitator (asynchronous online) for sociology coursework. Contributed articles to publications online and in print and conducted a small financial radio program in 2006. Blogged about social issues and financial/economic issues since 2010. Editor for a prestigious economic research report (SED) since 2012. 

Dr. Hembree grew up in Northern Arizona and proudly served in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he completed his undergraduate degree in business administration and worked as a director of recruitment. After serving years in the operational side of the business, he made a transition to a career in human resources and completed his graduate degree in human resources from Ottawa University. He went on to work in leadership roles in human resources, taught HR courses as an adjunct and earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Organizational Development. Dr. Hembree teaches many human resources and business courses. He has a passion for human resources and loves to provide engaging learning environments.

Dr. Justin Henry grew up in Sterling, Kansas and completed his undergraduate degrees at Sterling College. While teaching high school Chemistry and Physics at Ottawa High School, he completed his Master's of Science from Emporia State University. After completing this degree, Dr. Henry served three years as an assistant principal at Ottawa High and three years as the principal while earning his Doctorate of Education at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Henry has served as a Kansas superintendent for over a decade, first serving four years in the Southeast of Saline School district and currently in USD 265, Goddard Public Schools. In addition to serving as a superintendent, Dr. Henry is a consultant for the McPherson and Jacobson Executive Search Firm, teaches at Ottawa University and is active in multiple professional organizations including the Kansas School Superintendents Association, the American Association of School Administrators, Suburban School Superintendents, and the Mid-American Association of School Superintendents.

Professor Herschell graduated from Pittsburg State University with a bachelor degree in psychology and a minor in early childhood development. They went on to receive their masters degree in counseling psychology at the University of Kansas. They are a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. They own their own private practice where they provide diagnosis and treatment services. Additionally, they are the education program manager of a child development center at the University of Kansas where undergraduate students are trained and provide early childhood services for children of all abilities.

Professor Hertzberg has spent 25 years in Training, Education, and Change Management. Their goal as an educator is to help students succeed in their academic careers. This is done through intense discussions and interactions on ideas, thoughts, and questions.

Their hobbies include my cats, photography, and providing clergy service.

Teaching at Ottawa both in the classroom and online has been a joy and a passion for the last 23 years. As a professional in the business field, I am blessed to be able to utilize both my business and academic knowledge to help students reach their potential. I am proud to be a part of this caring faith-based university that is Ottawa.  

Allison Hubley completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She spent the early years of her career working in various positions with the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, and served as the Chief Operating Officer of Quality Healthcare Providers, P.C. in Dearborn, Michigan. She then transitioned into higher education on a fulltime basis in 2003.  While working as a project manager at HFHS, Ms. Hubley earned a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University.  She also holds a post-baccalaureate certificate in forensic accounting and fraud examination and works in a volunteer capacity with law enforcement. She enjoys conducting seminars to senior citizens and small business owners on fraud awareness and fraud prevention; she is the author of a bi-monthly "Scam Alert" column for a senior services newsletter. Ms. Hubley has been with Ottawa University since 2007 and teaches online courses as well as in-class courses at the Phoenix Campus.

Micheal earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from UCLA and his Master's Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University. He teaches several different psychology courses at Ottawa University. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he currently works with adolescents at a high school in a counseling and teaching capacity. He is interested in the way gender influences behavior and his emphasis is in counseling and diagnosing mental disorders as well as human sexuality. He also has a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA to aid his students in their future academic goals.

In Michael’s free time he enjoys cooking, bowling, spending time with his family, and of course, talking about psychology!

Bill Humbert received his Bachelor and Master of Music in Education degrees from Arizona State University. He has been teaching band in Arizona for 37 years, and is currently in his 24th year as the Director of Concert Bands at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona.  His duties at the college include serving as the director of the concert band program, coordinating and teaching the instrumental music education program, as well as, teaching courses in conducting.  Under his direction, the band program at GCC more than doubled in size. Ensembles under his direction have achieved a record of excellence and consistency in the areas of concert, marching, and jazz ensemble performance, including many state, regional, and national recognitions. Mr. Humbert also teaches music education courses at Ottawa University-Arizona, and serves as the liaison between Glendale Community College and Ottawa University-Arizona in their Music Education Partnership

In addition to his duties at Glendale Community College, Mr. Humbert is active throughout the country as a clinician and adjudicator in the areas of concert band, marching band, jazz band, and orchestra.   He is the Founder and Director of Bill Humbert Leadership, which provides leadership, team building, and motivational workshops throughout the country for school districts, collegiate, high school, junior high, and middle school students. Additionally, he is the Director of the Arizona Leadership Conference, a summer leadership program for high school music students, and is the Co-Director of  the California Leadership Academy.  Bill also serves as an Educational Clinician for the Conn-Selmer Corporation.

The Arizona Music Educator’s Association in 2013 honored Mr. Humbert as the Arizona Music Educator of the Year, and also honored him with the Careers in Music Award in 2016.  Additionally, he has been a recipient of the American School Band Director’s Association Distinguished Band Director’s Award, as well as, the recipient of the George C. Wilson Leadership Service Award from the Arizona Music Educator’s Association.  Mr. Humbert is a Charter Member of the Arizona Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmasters Fraternity and has also has served in many leadership positions throughout the Arizona music community, including President for the Arizona Band and Orchestra Director’s Association. He resides in Surprise, Arizona with his amazing wife, Stacy, and their energetic dogs, Frankie and Murphy. 
 

Professor Hutchison has worked in IT for almost 40 years, primarily in data management and architecture roles. He is a decorated US Navy veteran of submarines, specializing in nuclear power plant machinery and welding. His teaching interests include IT, project management, and data visualization courses. When not teaching or taking classes, he builds giant-class model aircraft. He has taught at Ottawa University since 2019.

My name is Jarred Fuhrman.  In 2012 I completed my 2nd masters in curriculum and instruction from Ottawa. I have worked in education for 19 years, with the most recent position as the head principal at Basehor-Linwood High School.   In my career I have also taught Spanish and was an assistant principal prior to taking over the head position. I currently am working as HR Manager at an Amazon Warehouse in the corporate world and have been able to take many of the things I learned from education into my new job. 

I am also married to my beautiful wife, Kassi of 16 years and we have two wonderful children- Kennadi(15), Maxxwell(12).  I very much enjoy my Kansas City Chiefs, my K-State Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinals.  I enjoy watching my kids play sports, spending time with my family and serving with my church family.  I also do enjoy reading and journaling in my quiet time. 

Rick grew up in Ventura, California where he majored in Criminal Justice and played football at Ventura College. He spent 13 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer and a Parole Officer. He served 3 years in the prison as a tactical operator while supervising inmate workers in construction projects. After several years as an officer, Rick began a degree in education in order to instruct college students. Three years later, he decided to concentrate solely on educating future law enforcement officers and retired early. Rick is in his first year with Ottawa University. He also instructs at local community colleges in the Phoenix area and teaches a high school law and public safety program. Rick has written a college textbook on Corrections, which is in final layout for publication. When not assisting and educating students, Rick likes watching football and riding his Harley Davidson.

Amy Elizabeth Jacober (she/her/hers) is an outspoken advocate, author, and educator
focusing on underserved populations. In recent years, her focus has been various areas of
intersectionality which include disability and increased mental health. Dr. Jacober has been teaching graduate, undergraduate, and professional students to consider context when looking at individuals and systems as well as faith and culture. She excels in connecting core beliefs with practical action bridging the gap between theory and practice. She has taught and lectured in universities, colleges, non-profits in the US and abroad for more than twenty years.
 

I have been a registered nurse for 47 years. Half of my nursing career has been in nursing education. I have taught at both community college and university level.

Regarding my clinical expertise, I have had experience in the operating room, med/surg, and community nursing.

Dr. Frances Johnson is a Adjunct Professor at Ottawa University’s School of Business. She teaches in the Online Division and at OU’s Brookfield, WI campus and Overland Park, KS campus for the Executive MBA and DBA programs. Dr. Johnson has taught at OU for five years. She earned her Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership degree from the University of Phoenix’ School of Advanced Studies and the Master of Business Administration (major in Human Resource Management) degree from William Woods University. The University of Kansas is her alma mater, where she earned an undergraduate degree in Human Resource Administration. She is certified by the Human Resources Certification Institute as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR).

Dr. Johnson’s career history consists of working as a Sr. Human Resources Director/Sr. HR Business Partner for 25+ years in the following industries: higher education, government, publishing, retail, automotive manufacturing, distribution/warehouse, and healthcare. Dr. Johnson is the author of a ProQuest database dissertation: “Automobile Manufacturing Workers: A Phenomenological Study of Job Loss on Family Relationships.” She resides in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and her two adult children reside in Dallas, TX and Denver, CO. Perhaps, she has something in common with some of her students, having earned both her MBA and doctorate degrees as a married parent, working full-time. Therefore, she understands the work-life balance challenges which adult students may be facing.

Her educational focus is Human Resources Management/Organizational Development and Business Communications. For the past 11 years, Dr. Johnson has owned an HR consulting firm, and supported small businesses. She enjoys art collecting, gourmet cooking, and writing short stories.

She has established and supported both domestic human resource departments in North America and international locations in China and Germany.

As a registered nurse who worked in multiple hospitals across the county in medical surgical nursing, kidney transplant unit, multiple sclerosis, and orthopedic surgery.  From this experience, I have learned a great deal in nursing and continued my education. In using this experience to continue to grow as a registered nurse and nursing instructor I have developed a passion and personal commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students.

With over 20 years of work experience in legal, administrative, and regulatory affairs, I am a passionate and driven leader in the healthcare sector. As the Regional Director of Legal Contracting and Property Administration at AdventHealth, I oversee the contracting and property management functions for a network of hospitals and clinics in the Midwest region. I leverage my skills in administration, teamwork, and project management to ensure compliance, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of legal and operational matters. Previously, I served as the Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Ransom Memorial Hospital, where I managed the legal, risk management, compliance, and human resources departments. I also have a strong background in public administration and education, having worked as the Executive Vice President of Administration and Regulatory Affairs at Ottawa University, and as the County Administrator and Counselor/Legal Counsel for Franklin County, KS. I hold a Master of Health Administration from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota. 

Todd Kane’s experience in business, healthcare and healthcare administration spans 25 years during which time he has served as:   the president and CEO of a multi-million dollar private national healthcare recruitment and outsourcing firm for more than a decade; the vice president of a publically traded healthcare staffing and outsourcing firm; and in various other leadership positions including chief operating officer, regional vice president, regional director, and more. In 2009, Todd decided to share his experiences with others through teaching and mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and certificate learners at a variety of universities and other institutions of higher learning.

After graduation from Ottawa University, I was a substitute teacher for the local school districts in fall of 1982 and I then took on a full-time position as a third-grade teacher in the West Franklin School District in the spring of 1983. In the fall of 1983, I began my teaching career with USD#290 as a first-grade teacher at Garfield Elementary School. After five years, I moved to a third-grade classroom and remained until my retirement in May of 2022. During this time, I took numerous classes to keep current on the educational trends.  In the fall of 2023, I began working at Ottawa University as a Student Teacher Supervisor.  I continue in that role as well as serving as an adjunct professor.

Instructor Keogh grew up in Virginia and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia.  He has held various management positions in Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, and General Business Management in the U.S. Marine Corps, at Ford Motor Company, and at United Technologies Corporation.   He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).  He has been teaching university classes since 2003.    He has taught with Ottawa University since 2012.

April Klasko grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and completed her associates degree in nursing at Phoenix Community College. She started her nursing career as an RN in Labor and Delivery at an inner city hospital in downtown Phoenix, Arizona and became Assistant Director for a high risk Labor and Delivery unit at the same hospital. She obtained her BSN at Arizona State University and then her MSN at Grand Canyon University. She has worked for the same healthcare organization for over 20 years in various roles including Quality, Risk and Peer Review. She recently started her journey with Ottawa University in January 2018. She is looking forward to using her educational and employment experience to help students in the nursing program be successful and while enjoying their education experience.

Instructor Alana Kopp grew up an Air Force brat and finished her high school years on the family's historical farm in Kimball, Minnesota. She completed her Associate of Arts and Bachelor degrees in Rochester, Minnesota. In the early 1990's she moved to the west coast to begin her teaching career in San Bernardino, California and pursued her master degree in pupil personnel services. Alana has spent over 25 years in education within the public schools as classroom teacher, instructional coach (including turn-around coaching with Arizona Department of Education) and elementary school counselor. Alana began teaching with Ottawa in the Master of Arts in Education in the School Counseling program in 2017 and wishes she had begun this endeavor earlier. She is a pastor's wife and mother of two young men. Ministry and family keep her active and she loves relaxing at the beach.  

Rebecca Kotch made her debut with Ottawa University over a decade ago.  With humble beginnings as a facilities assistant, she climbed in multiple areas of student advising that lead to Leadership roles.  As a proud alumni she has led a career within Corporate Tax.  Her experience specializes in different areas such as Property Tax, Federal Tax Insurance and her passion, Human Resources.

Cyndi Kaye Lambach is an Adjunct Professor at Ottawa’s Wisconsin Campus in the Executive MBA program.  Dr. Lambach earned her doctorate in Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Management.  She has been in academia and worked in the IT field for 30 years, mostly focusing on Network, Security, ITIL and SDLC. When she is not teaching, she enjoys golfing, traveling Europe and home renovation projects.

I am Joseph Lambert. I am a Parole and Probation Agent for the Michigan Department of Corrections and have held this position for 12 years. Before that, I had 5 years of physical security experience. I have been teaching online at various colleges and universities since 2013.

Dr. Betsy Lawrence is an 8th grade science teacher at Indian Trail Middle School in the Olathe School District. Dr. Lawrence completed her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Pittsburg State University in 2004. She continued her education by completing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University in 2008, a master’s degree in Special Education from Pittsburg State University in 2012, and most recently her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas in 2022.  Dr. Lawrence is currently serving as the Past President of the Kansas Association of Teachers of Science. She also most recently was selected as a finalist of the Presidential Award of Excellence in Math and Science Teaching Award for the state of Kansas at the secondary science level in 2023. Dr. Lawrence is starting her 20th year in education, six in the elementary school setting and 13 at the middle school level. Betsy loves to engage in new learning opportunities that will benefit her students to see the latest and greatest research that is being conducted and how her students can see themselves becoming part of this work.

Summary of Teaching Philosophy
Engaging students with diverse backgrounds and work experience is exhilarating to me, and I find that bringing information to them in several different media enhances the learning process.  The human aspect of learning appeals to me more than the memorization of formulae—although understanding them can help us explain the social and personal behaviors that make up business, management, and economics.  While I believe creating an environment with known expectations is important, I also am empathetic to students and their situations since I was also an online student while working full time.  I believe that my relationship with students can continue past the end of the term, and I take great pride that many former students continue our discussions on social media to this day.

I engage students in the classroom by asking the second and third question, and encourage them to post answers that are thoughtful.  I am very visible in the virtual classroom—I frequently post announcements and responses to discussion threads, in addition to answering emails on a timely basis.  I help students teach each other by encouraging dialogue through learner discussions and team assignments.  Incorporation of my professional experience as an executive and senior manager in business management, program management, finance, and other disciplines in aerospace brings practicality to the subjects.  I believe that teaching is a way to give back and is an important role in society. I believe in life-long learning; it is how I initially started my journey in teaching over 25 years ago.   Teaching is a way to continue my education and remain current in business academics.

Dr. Debra Logan has been educating nurses for over 30 years and most recently as an Ottawa University faculty adjunct. Dr. Logan’s work in higher education includes teaching in Associate, Baccalaureate, and Graduate Nursing Programs. Her specialties are in vulnerable populations and community health. Dr. Logan has been a Dean of Nursing, a Director and Chair of Nursing, and a Chair and Director of Nursing and Health Sciences. She is an experienced grant writer, coordinator, and principal investigator. Dr. Logan has served as a clinical nurse educator in small and large hospital systems, as well as in the academic setting. By empowering nurses to grow in their practice, or to help grow new nurses from scratch, her goal has always been to change the lives of patients through nursing education. Dr. Logan has worked in small, rural towns, a medium-sized city, and for the last 25 years, in the large, urban setting of Dallas-Ft. Worth. She, along with her husband, is an avid collector of Native American art. Dr. Logan once co-owned a rare book and coffeehouse in Dallas.

Kelly Lohman is a Faculty member in the School of Education at Ottawa's Online campus.  Miss Lohman earned her Master's in Elementary Education and Bachelorette's in Psychology at the University of Central Florida.  She has been an educator for 20 years and worked as an Elementary Teacher.  She teachers Elementary Reading Practicum and The Exceptional Child courses; she has also served as a subject matter expert for The Excpectational Child course and assisted on the OU Advisory Council.  She looks forward to teaching Education courses for Ottawa online.  In her free time, Miss Lohman loves family time and spends all of it with her only child, Madi at the theme parks and pool! 

Instructor Low, MSN, RN, OCN, CMSRN was raised in Southern California and was inspired by the example of her mother to become a nurse. She attended UCLA and obtained her BA in English Literature, and then went on to complete her MSN in their Masters of Entry Level Clinical Nursing (MECN) program as well as participate in nursing research. Her background is in Hematology-Oncology and  and Medical-Surgical nurse education at a large hospital in Los Angeles. She recently joined Ottawa University in 2017 and looks forward to helping prepare students to obtain their BSN and become nurses who transform lives. 

I have been teaching mathematics for ... let's just say a long time! I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from Villanova University.  
I live in Philadelphia and I am a huge College Basketball fan - my Dad is actually a college men's basketball coach and I am the Director of Men's Basketball Operations at Philadelphia University where my Dad has been the head coach for 55 years.  He was inducted in 2011 into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
 

Jacob Maichel joined Security Benefit in August 2021 as an Investment Analyst. He currently works as part of the Commercial Real Estate Investment (CRE) team, where he predominately focuses on origination of new loans ranging from $50M-$100M+ and also assists in management of the current ~$6.3 billion CRE portfolio.  
 

Kathy Markley grew up near Chicago, Illinois and completed her undergraduate degree (BA) at the University of Iowa.  For 5 years she taught 6th grade in Des Moines, before moving to Overland Park.  She taught in Center School District for 25 years, and during that time taught some seminars on Fred Jones’ Tools for Teaching classroom management at Baker University.  Professor Markley also received her MAT degree during this time from Webster University.  After retirement she became an adjunct supervisor for Ottawa University’s education program and is still very involved.  In her free time she travels with her husband and enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandson.

I am Denise Martin, Manager of an HR Shared Services Center.  The HR Shared Service Center plays an important role within any organization because we support the organization's most important asset - its people.  I have been working in the HR field for over 15 years, as an HR professional, I enjoy being able to help people through the entire lifecycle of their careers - that starts at hire and continues on through their retirement.   I have been an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University since 2013 teaching HR in Healthcare Organizations and helping students understand the ever-challenging and changing world of Human Resources.

Professor Matson has been working in the IT industry for over 25 years. They have been teaching IT courses since 2005. Their background in IT ranges from PC and server support to IT security. They have taught courses from Microsoft Office, PC repair, server administration, IT security, cloud basics, and various networking courses.
 

Jeff McAdoo taught K-5/6 physical education for 36 years in Emporia, Lawrence, and Ottawa public schools. He also hosted 38 student teachers and taught practicum classes for Ottawa University, and Elementary Physical Activities classes for the University of Kansas. Since retiring he has continued his KU class and teaches Elementary PE methods and Elementary PE for the Classroom Teacher at Ottawa University.

Jeff has been recognized as a Milken Family Foundation National Educator, Lawrence Teacher of the Year, Emporia State University recent outstanding graduate, and as a charter member of the Emporia State University Physical Education Department Wall of Honor.

Dana McCullough was born and raised in Minnesota, where she received her BS degree in Biomedical Science from St. Cloud State University.  She then moved to Ames, IA for graduate school at Iowa State University where she earned her MS in microbiology.  Her research was on coronavirus and swine virology, and she worked for several years with Diamond Animal Health, The National Animal Disease Center, and the Veterinary Medicine Research Institute.  She started and owned an equestrian center in Ames.  Using her Spanish speaking skills, she became involved in mission work to Mexico and Guatemala. She is now works with Education and More, a non-profit that serves indigenous families in Guatemala.  She enjoys her time in the classroom teaching Spanish and feels that it is a very important asset to everyone's education.  When not in the classroom or Guatemala, she also works with youth teaching hunter/jumper riding at a barn in Spring Hill, KS. 

Ms. McAdoo has taught a variety of classes (including general psychology & developmental psychology, public speaking, interpersonal communication, intro to sociology, current world events, English Composition I & II, two & three dimensional art classes, graphic arts and digital photography) at three community colleges and two universities.  She began teaching at Ottawa University in 2017. 
A professional photographer (who worked as a string photographer for the local newspaper), Ms Mac enjoys all of the arts, including music, theater, and photography as well as the visual arts--especially painting, design, and drawing.  She has traveled extensively, to 45 States and 13 different countries, as travel is her favorite hobby! A "history nerd," she also enjoys reading, genealogy, gardening, and crafts of all sorts.
A Past President of the Ottawa University Alumni Board, Ms. McKenzie McAdoo is a third generation graduate of OU--her oldest son, a fourth generation grad. She is also a Life Member of the Franklin County Historical Society.

Dr. McLaughlin has served in higher education for over 25 years, primarily in Enrollment Management, Advertising, Marketing and Business Development. In these roles, she was responsible for branding initiatives, strategic planning, media placement, business partnerships, etc. In her most recent position, she served as Associate Dean of Marketing. She has also lectured at many colleges and universities including Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, Keller Graduate School of DeVry University, Barry University, Broward College, Park University and Lynn University. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor and Course Developer with Ottawa University in the online graduate programs through the College of Business. Dr. McLaughlin also serves as a course developer and curriculum developer for the Park University College of Management. 

She is the President Emeritus and Founder of the Higher Education Partnership for Southeast Florida, and a member of Sigma Delta Beta, the National Honor Society for Graduate Business, Management and Administration.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

One of the greatest benefits of studying the field of business is that important, significant and transformative business decisions are being made every day, all over the world, and these decisions can impact not only the performance of a firm specifically but may sometimes impact global economies as well. As students of business, you are exposed to these events on a daily basis via numerous media outlets, and given the extent to which we are all connected electronically, these newsworthy business events should enhance your understanding and appreciation of business decisions from a practitioner perspective. As an instructor, I try to integrate relevant business news and events of the day/week into the course discussion as appropriate. I have always found that the learning experience is greatly enhanced when theory is explained and evidenced in practice.

My role is to serve as a mentor and facilitator to encourage students to interact with each other on a professional and collegial level through the exchange of information and ideas in a mutually respectful environment.

Dr. Regina has studied and taught many facets of the English language, including Literature, Composition, Linguistics, and Rhetoric at the undergraduate, and graduate levels in a 20-year long career as a Professor of English. In that experience, Dr. Regina discovered the transformative power of literature and writing in her own life, so she left the field of English to pursue a graduate degree in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University to help others also enjoy that therapeutic power in Literature and Writing. This new educational endeavor allows her to use creative works, such as poetry and expressive arts, as well as cognitive behavior therapy to assist others on their paths to healing. Having a passion for language studies, Dr. Regina still enjoys teaching in the college setting though her passion is integrating it with therapy.

Dr. Meehan has spent most of his career in the financial services, electric utility, consumer electronics, and high-tech industries, working in various human resources and consulting roles.  He has had leadership responsibility for talent management, HRIS, compensation, and benefits.  In academia, he was an adjunct Associate Professor of Management at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and has taught at Ottawa University since 2009. He is a member of WorldatWork; he served on their seminar faculty for 20 years, is a former Committee Chair and Board member, and holds both Compensation and Benefits certifications.  Dr. Meehan is a Founding Board Member of the Arizona Total Rewards Association. He also served on the Society for Human Resources Management’s Compensation and Benefits Committee. Dr. Meehan has published extensively with over 20 articles, book chapters, case studies, and conference presentations to his credit.

Dr. D. Anthony Miles is a serial entrepreneur, an award-winning
researcher, award-winning statistician, award-winning professor, legal, expert witness, business

is an entrepreneurial risk expert, and also a forensic marketing expert. He has been featured on

Fred Miles grew up in Urbana, Illinois, and completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University and his MS in Leadership at Grand Canyon University (GCU).  He spent the majority of his career at Motorola in Arizona and international locations in China as well as many of the company’s other Asian operations working in Human Resources.   Upon completion of his MS degree in 2005, he decided to make a career change and enter academia.  He started his teaching endeavors at GCU and began his teaching at Ottawa University in 2007. Fred also retired from the United States Air Force as a Lt Colonel after 25 years. He enjoys facilitating learning through the integration of his business and military experiences with his academic knowledge for students within the classroom.

Arian T. Moore, Ph.D. has 15+ years of experience in the field of communications after working in radio, television, and print. She is the publisher of Bibs & Business Magazine, a magazine geared towards working moms, helping them find support, tools and resources for work-life balance. She has a doctorate in organizational leadership  from Regent University, a Masters of Arts in journalism from Regent University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Howard University. Dr. Moore serves as adjunct faculty for a number of universities, teaching leadership, journalism and communications courses.

Instructor Dr. Rebecca Mullane grew up in Necedah, Wisconsin and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville.  After graduation, she worked in the Marketing Department for an insurance company before starting in Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Wisconsin - Waukesha. While working at UW-Waukesha, she returned to school in the evenings and online to complete her Master's Degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Shortly after, she transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Sheboygan to work as a Student Success Coordinator with at-risk students. During this time, she returned to school again in the evenings and online to complete her Doctorate in Communication from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. For the past five years she has taught Communication courses full-time at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She has taught as an adjunct for Ottawa University since early 2016 and enjoys working with students taking online courses. 

Dr. Tony Muscia is President and CEO of Global Communication Alliance which specializes in educational consulting and seminar development. His background includes a unique blend of corporate, entrepreneurial and educational experience combined with extensive classroom teaching.

Previously, Dr. Muscia served as a Consulting Advisor for the Portman Institute of Technology in Singapore. He was also Executive Director of the International MBA Program and Director of International Business Programs at Arcadia University. Prior to his tenure at Arcadia, he served in a dual role as Director of Graduate Business Studies and Director of Enrollment Management at Ottawa University.

Dr. Muscia has owned and operated ten businesses. His corporate experience includes serving as Chief Executive Officer at the Speakers Academy, Inc. as well as senior management positions in several multi-million dollar companies. He was also a marketing and management strategist for the Small Business Development Center in Arizona.

In addition, Dr. Muscia was Director of the Small Business Management Program and the Casino Management Program at Scottsdale Community College.  While at Western International University, he was appointed Chair of Graduate Business Programs and Chair of the Marketing Department.

Dr. Charlotte Newman serves as an adjunct Faculty Associate at various universities while having a variety of course approvals in Human Resources, Business, Management, Entrepreneurship, and General Education. She has experience as a Business Program Director,  as the Director of Workshops & Training which focused on educating and facilitating faculty scholarship poster sessions, and as a College of General Studies Lead Faculty Area Chair.  She has received the Distinguished Teaching Award and Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award from two different universities.  Additionally, Charlotte and her business partner have a mechanical design engineering consulting company in the local area. Her business background also includes staff positions at educational institutions and in the corporate environment.  Charlotte is an active member of the local Society for Human Resource Management chapter and she also volunteers her time to give back to the local community.  
 

Austin Newport is a Harvard-educated writer with a diverse background in coaching, teaching, and technical writing. With over a decade of experience in media, Austin has developed a reputation for creativity, innovation, and excellence. Jon Niccum is an award-winning journalist, author and screenwriter. Since 2011, he has been an entertainment writer and critic for the Kansas City Star. Prior to that he spent 10 years as an editor at the Lawrence Journal-World and its website Lawrence.com, and seven years as an editor at The Pitch, the Kansas City alt-weekly newspaper.

He is the author of “The Worst Gig: From Psycho Fans to Stage Riots, Famous Musicians Tell All.”

He graduated KU’s film department in 1989. He has taught journalism and film at KU since 2013 and at Ottawa University since 2015.

My college education started at a North Carolina Community College just as you are starting your higher educational journey. I completed an A.A.S in Accounting and Business Administration from Mitchell Community College in Statesville, NC. Upon completing those degrees, I decided to transfer to the University of North Carolina - Charlotte to further my education in accounting. I received by B.S. in Accounting and began my professional career in banking and finance with First Union Bank. During my tenure with the bank (including Wachovia and Wells Fargo) I held various positions including: Teller, Teller Manager, Roving Service Transaction Specialist, Financial Specialist, Licensed Financial Specialist, Senior Financial Specialist, Branch Manager, and Support Manager for the North Charlotte Region's Area President. While working for the bank, I continued my education with Gardner-Webb University by obtaining by MaCC in Accounting. I made the decision to change careers and become a full-time faculty member at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. As a life long learner, I went back to Gardner-Webb University to complete by Masters Plus Certificate in Economics. I am currently finishing my Doctor of Business Administration degree at Gardner-Webb.

In my spare time, I like to travel to different Hard Rock Cafes all over the world. Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, I have visited 145 different locations within the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Holland, and Denmark.

Professor Osinubi earned a PhD in Economics, Master in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Management [MSM Concentration in Leadership] from University of Ibadan, Jack Welch Management Institute, and Strayer University respectively. They have worked as an Adjunct Faculty/Economics at Prince George's Community College, Instructional Connections, LLC., Art Institute Pittsburgh Online Division, Southern States University, Strayer University and Research Economist at Social Science Research Network (SSRN). Mariea's journey in Social Work is marked by a deep sense of purpose and commitment. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, she continues to push boundaries, currently pursuing her PhD through the same esteemed institution. With over 15 years of diverse experience across clinical settings, including Case Management, Care Coordination, Employee Assistance Counseling, Medical Social Work, and Adjunct Professorship, Mariea's expertise knows no bounds.In her current role as a Primary Care Social Worker at the VA Hospital, Mariea brings compassion and empathy to the forefront, providing invaluable support to those who have served their country. Alongside her professional endeavors, Mariea dedicates her time and energy to humanitarian causes. One such project is her role as a co-founder of Helping Handz, where she champions educational supplies for children in Zambia, Africa, aiming to empower young minds and foster a brighter future. Mariea's passion for community-level Social Work is further exemplified by her role as the Executive Director of the Minneapolis Church of Christ Food Pantry, where she tirelessly works to address the needs of underserved populations in North Minneapolis. Her research interests, deeply intertwined with her professional and co-founding work, focus on women, children, families, and communities within African American and Latino/Hispanic populations. Through her research, she aims to shed light on critical issues such as trauma, health disparities, and access to care, both domestically and internationally, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she serves.

After a successful career in business, Professor Richard (Rick) Owens decided to complete his lifelong goal of education and return to school. Rick’s first degree was Computer Information Systems, which ignited a passion in him to continue and earn his Master in Management Information Systems. Rick has been teaching since 2000, and has been educating Business and IT students with Ottawa University since 2008.

Rick is currently a Sr. Systems Analyst for Sprint, and he lives in an old house in a small town about 55 miles north of Ottawa's Overland Park campus. Outside of IT systems and educating students, Rick loves to garden, read sci-fi, play computer games, and do some art [mostly poetry with a healthy dash of neo-abstract painting.] Currently Rick has made the decision to do the final mad dash for his PhD, is in the process of completing his dissertation and will soon be known as Dr. Rick Owens. 

Dr. Jody Panian worked in the acute care/surgical services setting for 20 years. This was the beginning of her clinical career in neuro, leading to moves in other clinical specialties; ortho, neuro, cardiac, surgery, and gastroenterology. She later focused on developing hospital programs learning marketing and program design by creating a tertiary outreach program for trauma extremity injuries. Panian also developed a Hepatitis C patient care education program for Kaiser Permanente resulting in best-practice care and handling of patients requiring treatment resources. She has spent time in leadership, and the last 12 years in nursing academic education.

Dr. Panian was nominated for a Nightengale Luminary award in 2022 for her leadership as the Director of the CCU Nursing BSN program for initiatives in raising NCLEX pass rates and program re-development. She currently teaches with CCU and Ottawa Universities as an online affiliate for BSN and Graduate education.

She believes that the foundation for nursing comes from the Bible. Nursing is a calling to serve and care for others. It is important to integrate Biblical truths within course content in the form of related scriptures and personal experiences. Praying for students is important to usher in the Holy Spirit and help build the faith of students. Working for faith-based Universities sets an expectation for students to grow into Christian leaders. These expectations and standards allow nursing students to learn to practice nursing as a ministry, not just a career.

My name is Ms. Devon (pronounced Devin) S. Parham. I am from Petersburg, Virginia, about 20 miles from the State Capitol of Richmond. I graduated from Longwood University with a BSW. I also graduated from Capella University with a Master of Science in Human Services. Currently, I am a Division Director with Hanover Department of Social Services. My primary job function is supervising the  I have been working Services Team. I have been a social worker for over twenty-three years. Since 1998, I have worked in Social Work, and I love working with people. Most of my work experience involves Domestic Violence counseling and Child Protective Services.
