Martin lettered in men’s basketball (1944-45, 1946-49) and in track (1947-48).
He led the men’s basketball team to a four year record of 47-30, to three Kansas Conference Championships, and to two Kansas NAIA Playoffs. Martin earned Honorable Mention All-Kansas Conference honors in 1947-48. He was part of OU’s legendary “Iron 5”, which the Wilson Field House court is named after.
On the track, Martin helped the Braves to the 1947 and 1948 Kansas Conference Team Championship. He earned All-Kansas Conference honors in 1947 in the high jump.
After graduating from Ottawa University, Martin went on to dedicate more than 40 years to educating students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in computer science.
