Inductee Details

Diminuco was a four year letterman on the football field (1971-74) and lettered on the baseball diamond (1973) for the Braves.

He led the OU football team to a four year record of 21-16, a 1972 Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Championship, and a 1972 Mineral Water Bowl victory. Diminuco earned First Team All-HAAC honors in 1972 by throwing for 2,190 yards and a NAIA leading 26 touchdown passes. In 1973 and 1974, he was named Second Team All-HAAC.  Diminuco was a two-time District 10 selection, earning the honor in 1972 and in 1974. He finished his four year career with 4,965 yards and 49 touchdown passes.

He is ranked third in the OU record book in career passing yards (4,965), fifth in the longest pass from the line of scrimmage and longest pass for a touchdown (82 yards to Larry Morris), fourth in single season touchdown passes (26 in 1972), third in career touchdown passes (49), eighth in single season attempts (292 in 1972), and eighth in single season passing yards (2,190).

As a member of the OU baseball team in 1973, Diminuco helped lead the Braves to an overall record of 5-8 and a HAAC record of 4-8.

Following graduation Diminuco became the athletic director and head football coach at Albion High School and one of New York State’s most successful high school football coaches, retiring from AHS in 2008. He was named Coach of the Decade for the 1980s, he was selected as New York State Coach of the Year in 1983 and in 1984 and he was named Coach of the Year eight times. Diminuco returned to the gridiron to coach football at Alden High School in 2009. He stayed on four years with the Bulldogs and went 31-3 in his final three seasons. He retired from the Alden head position in November of 2012 as the third all-time winningest football coach in Western New York with a record of 242-70.
