Ramsey lettered in football (1937-40), men’s basketball (1937-40), and track (1938-39).

On the gridiron, Ramsey helped the Braves to a record of 23-7-2. He led the Braves to the Kansas Conference Championship in 1938 and in 1939 under the direction of head coach Dick Godlove. Ramsey earned Second Team All-KS Conference honors at running back in 1938. He followed that up by earning First Team All-KS Conference honors at running back in 1939 and 1940.

As a member of the OU men’s basketball team, Ramsey led the Braves to a record of 39-14. OU won three straight Kansas Conference Championships and appeared in the 1937-38 NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

On the track, Ramsey was part of two Kansas Conference Team Championships. He won the KS Conference Individual Championship in the pole vault in 1939.
