Jack O'Neal

O'Neal earned letters in football (1937-40) and track (1938-40, 1946).

On the football field, O’Neal helped the Braves to a record of 23-7-2. He was part of two Kansas Conference Championship teams (1938 and 1939) playing for head coach Dick Godlove. O’Neal earned Second Team All-KS Conference honors at quarterback in 1940.

As a member of the OU track and field team, O’Neal helped lead the Braves to three Kansas Conference Championships (1938, 1939, 1946). In 1938 O’Neal was the KS Conference Individual Champion in the 100 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Dash. He repeated as KS Conference Individual Champion in the 100 Yard Dash in 1939 and earned All-KS Conference honors in the 220 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Low Hurdles. As a junior in 1940, O’Neal was a three-time KS Conference Individual Champion. He was the 100 Yard Dash, the 220 Yard Dash, and the 220 Yard Low Hurdles.

O’Neal was drafted into military service in 1940-41. He returned to Ottawa University in 1945-46 and was named captain of the 1946 track team. O’Neal earned All-KS Conference honors in the 100 Yard Dash, the 220 Yard Dash, and the 220 Yard Low Hurdles.
