Inductee Details

Greg was a three-sport star at Ottawa University and earned letters in football, baseball and basketball during his two years at OU. He was football team captain in 1974 and earned Second Team All-HAAC honors as a defensive back the same year. Playing on both sides of the ball, he finished the 1974 season with three touchdowns as a running back and a team leading six interceptions as a defensive back. During his two seasons on the basketball team he was named First Team All-HAAC as a senior guard and Second Team All-HAAC as a junior forward. He scored a career high 32 points and was named to the Culver Stockton All-Tournament Team his senior season. He played two seasons for the Braves baseball team and earned first team All-HAAC honors as a left fielder/designated hitter. He also hit two home runs, including a game winning blast, against Baker in the HAAC Tournament that season.

In May 2014, Greg retired from the Robertson County Board of Education after 40 years of service. He’s a part-time employee at the Robertson County Recovery Court, which assists citizens in living a life free from dependence on alcohol and drugs.
 

Greg is a certified lay servant and attends St. John United Methodist Church in Springfield, Tenn. He’s an active member of the Springfield High School Athletic Association, which is responsible for developing and maintaining athletic facilities. He was recently honored with a Community Hero Award at a local football game. He’s been a youth sports official and youth sports coach for the City of Springfield, a volunteer with the Robertson County YMCA and the Robertson County 4-H Club.
