Beau’s baseball career at OU was marked with a number of honors. In 1994, he was an Honorable Mention All-KCAC Utility Player. During his peak performance in 1995, he earned First Team All-KCAC (outfield), was voted KCAC Player of the Year, captured a spot on the All Region IV First Team (outfield), was an Honorable Mention All-American Outfielder, and was recognized as a KCAC Pitcher of the Week. In his senior year, Beau again made First Team All-KCAC as an outfielder.

A true student-athlete, Beau was recognized with the academic/human services honor of receiving the 1997 Carol Sandstrom Distinguished Humanitarian Award.

Current/Past Business, Profession or Occupation:
After graduating from Ottawa University in 1997, Beau spent 15 years as a children’s case manager with the Elizabeth Layton Center/Franklin County Mental Health Clinic in Ottawa, Kansas. For the last four of those years, he also served as a firefighter, first with the Leavenworth Fire Department and then with the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department. In 2012, Beau transitioned to firefighting fulltime. In addition to his “day job,” Beau continued his athletic involvement as the Piper (KS) High School baseball assistant/head coach (1998-2009), the Piper High School assistant basketball coach (2005-2008) and the Piper Middle School 8th grade coach (2007-2008).

Current/Past Community Involvement:
Prior to his daughter’s retirement from softball at age 8, Beau coached her softball team and currently coaches his son’s baseball team. He also coached the American Legion Baseball team from 1992-2004 and was a volunteer at the Franklin County Mental Health Clinic between 1995-1997.
