O'Dea lettered in football (1964-67) for the Braves.
He helped lead the Braves to a four year record of 33-3 playing for head coach Dick Peters. O’Dea was part of three KCAC Championships (1964-66) and led the Braves to a ranking of fifth in the NAIA during the 1965 season.
O’Dea earned Second Team NAIA All-American honors and was a First Team District 10 selection in 1967. He was a two-time First Team All-KCAC selection, earning the honor in 1966 and 1967. O’Dea was named co-captain of the 1965 team.
