Admissions Essay Requirements

As part of the requirements for consideration of admission to Ottawa University, all first-year, non-high school graduates and transfer students are required to write an essay. The details surrounding this essay are as follows:

Essay Topic

A maximum two-page, double-spaced paper telling us about your "Sense of Purpose at Ottawa University." Please organize your thoughts around one of the three components using specific experiences from your life.

  • Personal - How are your personal values connected to your decision to apply at Ottawa University?
  • Intellectual - How will Ottawa University help you pursue an intellectual life? What do you want to learn? How do you want to grow?
  • Civic/Social - How would an Ottawa University education help you contribute to your community, meet diverse people and make a difference in the world?
