Master's Degree in Education - Teacher Certification

Ottawa University's Master of Arts in Education/Teacher Certification programs offer students the opportunity to earn their master's degree by taking only five additional courses after completion of their teacher certification. Students will complete the teacher certification program by taking all of their certification courses first and doing their student teaching last. Upon completion of the required courses, students can obtain their certification through the Arizona Department of Education. Students then have the option of continuing with the graduate program to earn their master's degree through five additional courses.

The following concentrations for the MAED/Teacher Certification program are available:

All certification courses (39 credits) must be completed before student teaching and before continuing with the graduate program.

The Master of Arts in Education Program of Studies

15 credit hours minimum

Foundation courses must be completed before continuing with the graduate program.

  • EDF 7203  Diverse Community of Learners (3 cr hrs)
  • EDF 7303  Leadership and Management of Change (3 cr hrs)
  • EDF 7163  Research: Assessment and Evaluation (taken at the end of the program prior to the Master's Research Project) (3 cr hrs)
  • EDF 8503  Master's Research Project (3 cr hrs)
Arizona Constitution: 1 credit
US Constitution: 1 credit
(OU - Saturday $175 each)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Before certification, the following content courses must be completed: AEPA Elementary Education AND AEPA Professional Knowledge

Before student teaching, you must obtain a fingerprint clearance card.

Note: Ottawa University will assist the student in securing a preferred student teaching placement. However, the University cannot guarantee the preferred placement. Availability of student teaching placements is determined by individual school districts.
